
Artistic director, Olivier Pere commented on the festival’s line up:
It is the festival of film, all kinds of film and nothing but film, of the highlights of its history, its stars and artists to its most exciting future prospects with a constellation of new auteurs discovered every year in the various sections of the festival.
Of this year’s 19 features in competiion, just 2 are directed by women. But there are a good amount of women directed films playing in the Piazza Grande which will be held in Europe’s largest film venue. Of the 17 films, 5 are directed by women. And as previously announced, the excellence award will go to actress, Charlotte Rampling.
The in-competition line up includes 19 features, co-produced in at least 21 countries with 6 of those produced or co-produced in the U.S.
