I'm not so sure about this one.

Marc Cherry whose Desperate Housewives is thankfully going off the air this May is now filming a pilot a new ABC show called Devious Maids.  One Housewife, Eva Longoria, has signed on to be an executive producer.

Here's the description from Deadline:

...follows four maids (Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Judy Reyes) with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.

I'm all four women -- especially women of color getting acting gigs -- but four Latina women playing maids taking care of I would suspect rich white folks homes in Beverly Hills.  Haven't we seen enough of that?

Vulture finds a trailer to the telenovela that the show is based on.  On the other hand, Ugly Betty was based on a telenovela and that show was great.

One of the reasons Ugly Betty was great is because it didn't rely on stereotypes

I have this really outrageous idea for some TV shows or movies. Given the profits generated by the Twilight, Harry Potter and Hunger Games writers why don't they hire some female writers to write a story about women and their lives?!
