Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie is truly one of the great performances of all time. Here in an AFI interview Hoffman talks about the experience of playing the now iconic role of Dorothy Michaels and how the process led him to think differently about women.

Upset that he wasn't more beautiful as a woman, Hoffman realized the full magnitude of society's physical demands placed upon women.

There's too many interesting women I have not had the experience to know in this life because I have been brainwashed.

Watch Hoffman speak about this below--it's lovely, honest and completely moving.

"But I was a better man with you, as a woman, than I ever was with a woman, as a man."

I saw this interview clip yesterday on a news program, and the two anchors commenting about it totally did not get it. They giggled, smirked, and acted completely confused about what Hoffman means when he says, almost weeping with emotion, "It ['Tootsie'] was never a comedy for me." Beautifully put, Dustin. And well done posting it, WAH.
