Elle Fanning

In a recent interview for FASHION Magazine, the ultra-talented Elle Fanning discussed the limited roles available to women:

There are still a lot of movies where women are dependent on the guy. We don't always need a love interest. We can stand on our own. There are so many movies where guys are alone, doing their own thing, so I don’t see why we can't have that too.

Amen, Elle Fanning. Amen. It's refreshing to see such a young actress speaking out against poorly developed and cliched female characters. We are so looking forward to seeing Fanning star in Maleficent with Angelina Jolie, she consistently chooses interesting roles and gives memorable performances - please check out her gut-wrenching turn in Sally Potter's Ginger & Rosa).

Now that is a true feminist comment and a powerful one.

She is brillant and can blow away actors twice her age.
