QVC Bans Jane Fonda From Promoting Her New Book

It's not like Jane Fonda was going to go on QVC to promote god-forbid feminist issues, she was going on QVC to promote her new book Prime Time: Love; Health; Sex; Fitness; Friendship; Spirit; Making the most of all of your life which comes out in early August.

It's QVC's loss. She has track record for her books. She's a best-selling, number one author for her memoir My Life So Far (which if you haven't read you are missing something special) and she has sold millions of exercise videos and DVDs.

But QVC cancelled her appearance one day before she was supposed to be on because they had received protests from a statement she made in the early 70s about the Vietnam War.

Fonda has a two upcoming films. And If We All Lived Together which will be the closing night film at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival and Peace, Love and Misunderstanding co-starring Catherine Keener.

If you want to give QVC a piece of your mind here's how. Email them here or call 1.888.345.5788 and dial 0

I APPLAUD QVC for canceling her appearance. She was a traitor to her country and needs to apologize to the Vietnam vets. What the heck was she doing over there anyway posing with the enemy? At least QVC has principles and doesn't have someone on just for the money. What a refreshing idea. Thank you QVC. I shall continue to patronize QVC as I have happily done for many years.

This comes as no surprise.  Leftists will continue to love Jane because she gives a token face to popular left wing opinion; conservatives will hate her because she espouses ‘left wing rhetoric’; Jane herself will use the (gimmick) occasion to promote her book that  “can help make life better, easier and more fulfilling.”

In sum: haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love, and an old controversy never truly dies.

I also cancelled my QVC account as a result of their actions.

This is what QVC emailed me when I asked why they cancelled Fonda:

Thank you for emailing QVC. Due to a scheduling change, Jane Fonda did not appear in the 10am show Saturday as previously scheduled. QVC's Program Guide was updated on Friday, June 15th. Jane Fonda didn't appear because of her past or current political views or reaction from the online community.

It's about time someone steps up for our Vets, Thank You QVC!

No one cares that she didn't like the Vietnam war. Vets and those who actually care about soldiers know she should have gone to prison for her traitorous acts. Aiding the enemy, by posing for their propaganda, and accusing our troops of being liars and hypocrites when discussing how they were tortured, she should have stayed in Vietnam. "Hanoi Jane" only apologizes for the reaction to her, never for her actions.

It is QVC's stupidity and loss and a loss for everyone who would only have gotten exposure to this book via QVC.

Jane Fonda is one of the most highly evolved humans and specifically women in our still male-centric society. Her introspection and personal growth are important and inspiring.

She has gone from sex symbol to sex symbol AND role model. Long live Jane Fonda and long may she be helpful to women (and men) everywhere!

Shame on QVC. I am going to give them feedback on that right now and I suggest you do, too.
