Chicken and Egg Pictures always has a great party at Sundance: delicious home-cooked food paired with a celebration of women filmmakers and the folks who support and nurture them. I pulled some of the women aside, from relative newcomers like Dee Rees, to veterans Lucy Walker and Judith Helfand, and asked them to share their best advice for other women filmmakers.

Chicken and Egg Pictures is a hybrid film fund and non-profit production company dedicated to supporting women filmmakers. At this year's party, they honored their grantees at Sundance 2012: filmmakers Alison Klayman ("Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry"), and Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush ("Finding North"). And, they gave special awards to Debra Zimmerman (Executive Director of Women Make Movies, celebrating its 40th anniversary) and Nekisa Cooper (Producer of "Pariah" and "Eventual Salvation").

Filmmaker Therese Shechter has been going to and writing about Sundance for most of the last 11 years. You can follow her on Twitter @trixiefilms and learn more about her current film work at http://www.virginitymovie.com.
