The Male Dominated Emmy Awards

Last week we posted a piece about the research that showed that women created 26% of the TV shows during the 2011-2012 season.  But, based on the lack of women visible onstage at last night's Emmy Awards in any category but acting, you could have gotten the impression that  women are basically invisible as creators, writers and directors of TV shows.  (I know that women won awards given at last weekend's Creative Emmy's but they were not on TV last night for the world to see.)

Thinking About the Ending of Girls

I've been on the road so I didn't have a chance to comment on the finale of Girls.  First thing I want to report on is that every single meeting I have had during the run of the show no matter who it was with, no matter what their age, the show has come up.  The question was - so, what do you think about Girls?  I always immediately said - I love Girls.  Many times I saw relief of people's faces because they too like Girls and for some reason didn't want to say so.

Girls Season One Ends: Check Out This Interview with Lena Dunham

The first season of Girls came to a close last night.  This pop culture tour de force has become the zeitgeist hit of the moment.  I am beyond impressed with what they have accomplished.  I am on the road so I haven't seen it so no comments yet from me.  But you should all feel free to comment on what you thought of the season.

Guest Post: People Cannot Stop Talking About Girls

It’s impossible to read a pop culture blog or check out a review of your favorite TV show without noticing commentary about HBO’s most talked about series this year, Girls. That simple single word title has been the subject of explosive debate, speculation, and analysis as TV critics and everyday reviewers take to the comments to vent or gush about the show.
