Last year we celebrated the fact that Kathryn Bigelow broke the cycle for women directors in the feature category at the DGA Awards, and this year we knew that a woman wouldn't win, because none were nominated.
But it is still always hard to see a list where all the top names are guys. And I mean all guys. 10 categories - ten guys win the awards. (Side note- The DGA does award the full directing team so there are multiple women celebrating this evening.)
While we had hoped that Kathryn Bigelow might be the start of trend that would open up the high profile awards to more women, it just seems that she was more of an anomaly. I really hope I am proven wrong in the coming years.
