Homeland has been very good at changing the show's stakes between seasons, but the Showtime series has practically had to reinvent itself for its fourth year when (SPOILER) it killed off Brody and ousted Saul from the CIA in last season's finale.
The plot machinations of the last year -- and the promotion of Nazanin Boniadi, who plays the Persian-American analyst Fara, from recurring guest to series regular -- implied that the fourth season would take place in Iran, where Brody was killed attempting to infiltrate the government in Tehran. Surprisingly, then, we now find Carrie in Pakistan amidst gunshots, explosions, and lots of people yelling at her -- though for once Saul isn't one of those yellers, but a calm adviser.
As with almost all TV trailers, we don't get a whole lot of what's coming ahead, but Homeland's fourth season, premiering October 5, does promise to refocus the show on Carrie, her dealings with promising sources, and her poor management of her disease.
