Mother of George

Mother of George, written by Darci Picoult, was a Sundance hit with massive praise for Danai Gurira's standout performance. It's gorgeous cinematography took home the top award.

Gurira plays, Adenike, a Nigerian woman living in Brooklyn with her husband. She has a difficult relationship with her mother-in-law, struggles with the expectations of her husband and is having difficulty conceiving. She's caught in between her traditional culture and her new American life as she tries to do anything she can to save her marriage.

Mother of George hits theaters in limited release on September 13th.

This film is incredible. I was fortunate to see it at bam cinefest this summer, and was blown away. This is--I assume--a very different role for Guira. I hope a lot of people see this.
