Octavia will co-star in Snow Piercer a sci-fi films directed by Bong Joon-Ho. Here's the description:
...is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snow Piercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
Film also stars Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans.
Viola Davis is also getting on the sci-fi train with a role in Gavin Hood's Ender's Game. Here's the description:
Set in the future, the story finds the Earth at war with an insectoid race named the Formics, and follows Ender, one of a group of children being trained to be military commanders.
This also has a stellar cast including Harrison Ford and Abigail Breslin.
She also booked a role in Beautiful Creatures which could become a trilogy. This one is directed by Richard LaGravenese. The description:
The story follows two teens -- Lena, who posses some kind of secret supernatural gift and Ethan, the boy who loves her -- and follows their journey to confront a curse that has plagued her family. Davis will play a librariarn and close friend of Ethan's dead mother, who cares and protects the child as if it were her own.
While none of these films will put either Davis nor Spencer in the leading role at the center of the story (at least based on the descriptions) the thing to remember is that neither will be playing maids.

Would be very surprised if Davis didn't land the role of Debbie Peagler in the scripted adaptation of "Crime After Crime," as Chris Columbus recently secured the rights to adapt this doc.
