While we have made great progress on gay marriage, we stil live in a world where there is not a single professional out male athlete that is currently playing a major sport. They are there, they are scared, but that's it's a really big, important step that hopefully is coming.
Female athletes are so far ahead on this that when the top draft from the WNBA, Britney Griner talks about being out, it was just in passing. The WNBA itself has come really far from the days when the women were forced to take classes on etiquette and the lesbians lived in the closet. Male athletes should learn from the women playing basketball and soccer.
Watch the top 3 WNBA draft picks, Brittney Griner, Elena Delle Donne and Skylar Diggins talk openly and frankly about sexuality and sports. With this video, Griner comes out in the interview in a simple way, telling others to just be themselves.
These ladies are excellent role models for athletes and women everywhere.
